A number of events are taking place across Rochdale borough aimed at supporting members of the armed forces community, including veterans, serving personnel and their families.

The activities provide opportunities for people to meet others, access support and take part in local initiatives designed to strengthen community connections.

At Number One Riverside in Rochdale, a weekday drop-in meet-up offers a space for veterans and their families to connect with others in a relaxed and welcoming environment. The sessions take place Monday–Friday each week from 10am - 5pm, allowing attendees to drop in at a time that suits them.

The meet-up also provides access to a range of support options, including wellbeing support, as well as opportunities to get involved in community activities and sports-based initiatives.

In Middleton, a weekly coffee morning takes place at Alkrington Library, Kirkway, Middleton M24 1LW. The sessions are held every Friday from 10am - 5pm and provide a chance for veterans to socialise and spend time in a supportive environment.

The coffee morning also provides access to a warm space during the day, with attendees able to stay until 5pm if they wish.

Later in the year, Armed Forces Day will be marked with flag raising services in both Rochdale and Middleton.

In Rochdale, the service will take place on Thursday, 25 June 2026 from 10am - 10.30am at Rochdale Town Hall, The Esplanade, Rochdale OL16 1AZ.

A second service will be held on Thursday, 25 June 2026 from 1pm - 1.30pm at Middleton Memorial Gardens, 348 Manchester Old Road, Middleton M24 4EB.

Both events are open to the public and are intended to recognise the contribution of the armed forces community, including serving personnel, veterans, cadets and their families.

The events form part of wider efforts across the borough to acknowledge the role of the armed forces and provide opportunities for people to show their support.

All listed activities are free to attend, with no booking required. Residents are encouraged to take part where appropriate and support members of the armed forces community across Rochdale.
